The Grand Canyon

From Vermillion Cliffs we spent a day touring the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.  With all the tourism it was an entirely different experience to the intimate trip into Canyon de Chelly.

But what an extraordinary expression of the earths capacity to form and erode with a largesse that left us feeling small and quite trivial in the scheme of things. For Nettie the first sighting was like having one too many shots of whiskey, slight nausea and dizziness…a real whoa! feeling… almost too much.

Again the photos speak for themselves with one last addition…

Walking the trail to Angels Window we had stopped to savour the texture and perfume of the local Juniper and wild rose when a yellow and black butterfly with a wingspan of about six inches flew between us, landed a moment on my hand then disappeared into the surrounds. It was a touching moment and one that will stay with me forever… We asked Park Rangers no one could identify the butterfly…perhaps we don’t need to know…
