We set off on a beautiful, sunny day with Matthew, Sara and Cathy to the 21st annual
Miawpukek First Nation Powwow in Conne River. We had been looking forward to attending one for several years, finally made it and were not disappointed. The dancers , singers and drummers were fantastic and came from other parts of Canada to join the local Newfoundland First Nation band. Families and friends celebrating a strong culture.
We will be back!
Miawpukek Mi’kamawey Mawi’omi is a First Nation Reserve located at the mouth of the Conne River on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland. Over the years the community has seen a steady growth in Government, Social Reforms, Health, Education, Economic Development, Culture and Traditions. We believe that we will “secure our future by investing in our past.” ref: http://www.mfngov.ca
